“I am the messiah!”
November 30th, 2004. Posted 23:58

No, not me of course! There was a man in the center of my home town village who was crying out this message. He puzzled me. I stopped and looked at him for some moments. I couldn’t help but thinking: “what if he was….”. Ok, the odds are a bit against him, but in the slim chance he actually was, what in earths name was he doing here??? Well, maybe as in most things in life, you have to start small and work your way up… If so, he has quite some way to go. Although we may admire his ambition to aim high.
I myself showed similar ambition when my mind wonders about participating in the Vätternrundan (a somewhat crazy 300km cycling tour around a lake in Sweden) in 2005. At the moment I am 28 years old and, according to the cycling specialists who comment on the Tour de France in the summer, that should be the perfect age to peak in my cycling career. I guess that is more meant for the people who take cycling a bit more serious then just a “when-the-weather-is-nice-and-there-is-not-to-much-wind” hobby. Based on nothing to fall back on I still strongly believe I could do it. Maybe that makes me just as mad as the man who is convinced he is the messiah. So if I could do Vätternrundan, could he be……. seems there is only one way to find out. But will I be brave enough to shout out “I will do Vätternrundan!” ??

Yes, you will! :)

As for Messiah - it made me think a wonderful book that I definitely recommend you to read if you haven’t already. I think you might enjoy it. It’s called ‘Illusions: The adventures of a reluctant Messiah’, written by Richard Bach. One of my favourite quotes from the book: “The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other’s life. Rarely do members of one family grow up under the same roof.”

Oh, and I have a request for this site - preview functionality! It’s somewhat scary to write without knowing what it will look like after you’ve pressed the send key…

Nathalie Imbruglia (i think) had a song about it… What is god was one of us, just a slob like one of us, just a stranger on the bus, trying to find his way home… Or at least the text was something like it. And why not… we are all part of the same universe, so why should we not all be part of the same god… There is a liitle bit of the messiah in all of us, only some show it more then others.
If you are going to do the Vätternrundan you need good training, so next time no more taking the car for short trips, but just grab one of your bikes :-p

Nice one, only I think the song was from Joan Osborne. And yes, I should leave the car more often… But being away from home so often and hardly doing any driving anymore makes driving actually quite fun when you can! ;-) Ok, not the best excuse, but if I decide to go for it, I won’t have much choice but to take the bike…

Haven’t read the book, but the quote sounds quite promising!

About the previewing…. This will be looked into! :-) Although no promises will be made!

If you’re going to do Vätternrundan I’m going to have to join you. Five days after I bought my bike the Snow came. I’ve used it twice. It’s quite pathetic. Nice looking blog you ended up with. I especially like the turing test ;)
